Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect to see on the tour?

Our movie tour of Astoria and the surrounding area is approximately 4 hours in length.  Stops and sights include the iconic Astoria-Megler Bridge, downtown Astoria, the Oregon Film Museum (used in the opening scene of The Goonies), Mikey and Data’s homes in the “Goondocks” from The Goonies, the Astoria Column, Stephanie’s house in Short Circuit, John Jacob Astor Elementary School from Kindergarten Cop, Ecola State Park used in both The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop, Haystack Rock and many others.  There may even be a surprise or two awaiting the ardent movie fan depending on location availability.

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?  Can I pay cash?

Tours sell out quickly, so while you can wait to purchase your tickets until you are ready to board, you may find there are no available seats on the tour you wish to take.  Tickets can be purchased using a Visa, Mastercard, Discover or debit card on-line to secure your reservation.  Unfortunately, we are unable to accept cash at this time.

Do I have to buy a ticket for a young child?

For children aged 3 to 15, you should purchase a reduced-price child ticket.   Children aged 2 or less may attend for free, but you’ll still need to enter the appropriate number of infant tickets labeled “Free” when purchasing, and child must be secured in an approved car seat for the duration of the tour.  We will have space to store your collapsible stroller so you may use it during any of our stops.  The car seat will need to remain on the floor between the parent’s feet when the bus is in motion.

Are any refreshments or food included on the tour?

No food is allowed onboard the movie tour bus.  We suggest you eat prior to the tour at one of Astoria’s fine restaurants. Beverages in plastic bottles are allowed, however, cups are not.  Please keep caps on bottles when not drinking to prevent spills.

Will I be able to purchase souvenirs on the tour?

Unfortunately, no.  However, Astoria/Warrenton Chamber of Commerce, Oregon Film Museum, and Astoria Brewing company all stock a wide variety of Goonies merchandise for sale.  Other locations carry a limited supply of Astoria themed items as well.  Be sure to support these local Astoria businesses!

Is there a restroom on the bus?

No, however there will be an opportunity to use a restroom at the Astoria Column and Ecola State Park.

What happens if it rains?

Our tours run rain or shine and are always enjoyable no matter what kind of weather is going on.  Please be sure to dress appropriately for the weather which can change frequently throughout the day.  We recommend dressing in layers and bringing a jacket even if the sun is shining.  We also recommend wearing comfortable, closed toe shoes as some walking may be needed to enjoy the complete tour experience.  You will not be required to leave the bus if you do not wish to do so.

Are cameras or videocams allowed on the tour?

Absolutely!  The only exceptions may be if facilities or locations on the tour specifically prohibit photography, and there is absolutely no recording of the onboard video presentation.  Filmmakers have never been able to resist the charm and beauty of Astoria and surrounding areas, and neither will you!

Is there assigned seating on the bus?

No, seats are first come, first served.  We suggest arriving early if you are part of a large group for the best opportunity to keep everyone together.

Is the bus handicapped-assessable?

Yes, our bus is designed to accommodate up to two wheelchairs and has a ramp as well as a “kneeling” feature to make boarding easier.  We do not provide wheelchairs, walkers or canes – you will need to provide your own.

Where should I park my car?

YET TO BE DETERMINED…

Is there any limit to the number of personal items I can bring on board?

Our tour busses are not designed to accommodate luggage.  There is enough space in your seating area for purses and small day bags or backpacks.

Are we on the bus for the entire time?

There are a few planned stops where you will be able to exit the bus and stretch your legs, enjoy the scenery and access movie locations up close and personal only available to those on the tour.

Are tours available in languages other than English?

Currently the tour is offered in English only, but since so much of it is visual, it can be enjoyed thoroughly by those with limited English skills.

Can I purchase a gift certificate?
